Pramod, a resident of village Lakhasar of Takhatpur block of Chhatisgarh, India has taken organic farming to a higher level. They prepare 200 tones of organic manure annually from Ghurwa. By using organic manure, they earn approximately Rs 15 lakh annually from the crop. Apart from this, he also profits by selling 50 tones of organic manure annually. By using organic fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers, the saving of Rs. 3 thousand per acre is different.
For this he has adopted a unique method. He opened a cowshed in his vacant land and appealed to the villagers to send old and unused cows to the Gaushala. Suddenly there were three hundred and fifty cows in the gaushala. From which three quintals of cow dung are produced every day. The cow dung is now being dumped in the tank along with water and other waste. It is then cooled by adding water for a week. After pouring cow dung mixture on top, they add earthworms to it. In the next 3 months, organic manure will be ready for the harvesting of the crops. This is how he earns through ORGANIC MANURE.
